Mini Hydro Power
Magiro Mini Hydro Power is a hydropower project with the ability to meet electricity demands for communities that are currently not served by the main grid, but which are located near flowing water. Fully licensed by the Kenya Regulatory Energy Commission, these electricity hubs are easy to install along any riverbed and offer a competitive package for communities and businesses waiting on the larger scale projects to reach them.
How it works...
Using run-of-the-river technology, energy can be created without disrupting the environment or making a massive infrastructural investment. The pressure of siphoned water directs the turbine which converts the kinetic energy of falling water into mechanical energy. A generator then converts the mechanical energy from the turbine into electric energy. Generators in hydropower plants work similar as the generators in other types of power plants.
